WILD CHILD: A little extra time outside
January is the time for setting goals and taking on new challenges. My goal is to increase the amount of time I spend playing outside with my children after school each day.
Will you challenge yourself to head outside a little more often this year?
There are many challenges where you can join like minded outdoor goal setters. To help encourage us to complete our goal, we have joined the 1000 hours outside project. This project is about taking the 1200 hours a year children spend on screens on average and swapping them for outside time. If you take it day by day that is less than 3 hours a day!
In the past we have also taken the 150 hours outside challenge. So, if 1000 hours seems too high for your family why not commit to 150 hours? Or pick a daily or weekly goal: 7 hours a week? 1 hour a day? Whatever you choose, challenge yourself to step outside regularly and enjoy the benefits of fresh air and time together.
