WILD CHILD Wintermission: Tic Tac Toe

Today’s Wintermission challenge is to play tic-tac-toe with found materials outside.

We LOVE sticks at my house. We also love games, and playing outside.

Today’s mission combines all of these things. Find 4 sticks and 2 sets of five natural items. For example 5 stones, 5 Pine cones, 5 leaves, etc. Then use them to play tic-tac-toe outside.

The rules are simple: two people play at a time.  Lay the sticks in the ground to make a # (pound sign/hashtag). Each player gets one set of items, then the players take turns placing an item in one of the 9 spaces. The first player to line up 3 items in a row wins.

This challenge is best with a friend, and even young children enjoy trying to play. So take some time outside today, and enjoy a game of tic-tac-toe.

If you end up playing in the mud, please share your experience with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram! Tag us and include the hashtag #wintermission. We would love to see these challenges in action!
