World Maternal Mental Health Day
It's World Maternal Mental Health Day on Wednesday, May 5. Having a baby is a stressful time for all but the lucky few, and for many reasons, the stress levels can soar to extreme levels. Women, as well as their family and friends, need to know the signs of maternal mental ill-health and that they are not alone. They can find help and support for perinatal mental health problems.
If you are pregnant or a new mom and feel like you are struggling, reach out to someone - your family, your doctor, or us! You are not on your own, you are certainly not a bad mother, nor is what you're feeling uncommon, so please ask for help.
Our Mother Reach Support Group meets weekly via Zoom. It is co-facilitated by a Childreach Parent Support Educator and a Registered Social Worker from Rebirth Wellness. New moms and moms-to-be are always welcome. Email pdibbits@childreach.on.ca to join. It's free.
In light of this special day, we are asking for your help. For the month of May, we will be running a fundraising campaign along with our friends at Rebirth Wellness to raise dollars to sustain the Mother Reach program and the vital work of supporting mothers during pregnancy and the first year after birth. Please consider making a donation today through our Canada Helps page here. If you would like to contribute in another way, please email nreeves@childreach.on.ca.
